We are all addicts

Hello Hello.

It is now 11.pm and I can't seem to calm this thought that has been running in my mind about addiction. So here I am typing it out. Recently I was talking to my workmates and we started talking about smoking, and how some people tried to curb it and steps  people take in trying to quit. Some people would do extensive measures like self healing, yoga, gym, food, nicotine patch and etc. When they successfully quit, why is that with the slightest of temptation you light it up anyway and promise yourself one last time? When know so well, that it won't be?

I made a conclusion that we, are all hopeless addicts. Think about it, it dosen't only apply for smoking or drinking or weed or all the unhealthy addiction that we usually associate addiction with. I am saying that we are all addicted to one common thing. We are all addicted to FEELING GOOD. It's an addiction that we are all guilty of. If I dare say we were born with this need. We are all constantly seeking that one thing that will give you the pleasure of feeling good, and when you found it, giving it up is near to almost impossible. Regardless how different your addiction is, it goes down to how it makes you feel inside.

For the past few days I have been observing other forms of addiction. I realize our addiction is vast. Getting 'likes' on your instagram pictures can be considered addiction. Or the googling eyes of men over your beauty can be addiction. Or a jealous girlfriend on your brand new Channel handbag. (Hey, whatever that rocks your boat mate, i'm not here to judge, just observing)

We all have that one guilty pleasure that just gives us a sense of things. By getting a certain thing it just gives the warmth in your tummy and it is as though it travels to all parts of your senses, numbing pain, numbing disappointment, numbing reality numbing all logic and sanity. I guess this is what makes people just do silly or idiotic things even though by the outer face you know it's just a NO.

I guess knowing that you are addicted to something is ok. But because we are humans with a natural sense of sanity we always have a choice on what makes us feel good. Getting addicted to something that might be character damaging is such a waste. Study shows that people who are addicted to 'likes' on their picture has low self esteem. The constant assurance they get 'likes' is so important for their self-esteem that they forget their own "likes" towards themselves is way more important than of a stranger. Every addiction we have, as long as it's not harmful I dare say is healthy. It can come in a form of hobby or just plain a.d.d.i.c.t.i.o.n..We need to escape every now and then, to keep ourselves sane and to feel. So I would say again as long as your addiction is not harmful to the body and your character... go on.. treat yourself.
